Trip to Ellis Island

A series of plaques has been erected, listing the names of immigrants who entered the country via Ellis Island.

The plaques were erected by public subscription; if you made a donation, your ancestor's name was listed.

As I stood trying to get a photo of one of the plaques, with the Statue of Liberty in the distance, this family arrived, in search of the name of an ancestor.
